Thai developers are taking action as retail buildings sit dormant and residential sales slow

Enjoying the view of Bangkok from a great height has never been better at these Sukhumvit rooftop bars.

Bangkok is known for its rooftop bars. Thailand’s capital is awash with different options for you to take your pick of, but we have selected eight of the very best ones dotted along the Sukhumvit BTS line for those who fancy a rooftop bar hop.

1. Red Sky

If you want to be high, then head to Red Sky. Situated on the 55th floor of Centara Grand Hotel at CentralWorld, this is not a place for the faint hearted. With two decks and plenty of comfy seating, Red Sky is the place to tower over Thailand’s metropolis. You may feel like you are stepping off the side of the building as you climb or descend the stairs between the floors, so opt for a seat inside if you are feeling a little less daring.

2. The Speakeasy at Hotel Muse

Not too far from Red Sky is The Speakeasy on Langsuan by Chitlom BTS station. This relaxing setting will quickly bring you back to earth from the dizzying heights of Red Sky. Set amongst the rooftops of the prestigious Lumpini area of Bangkok with some of the skyscraper’s feeling like that they are within arm’s reach, The Speakeasy is a lesser known venue. Head to the top of Hotel Muse and duck through a secret door to reach this charming rooftop bar.

3. Above Eleven

Now that you are a few drinks down and warmed up it is time to hit Sukhumvit’s most notorious party soi. Hop off the BTS at Nana station and work your way to the top of soi 11 to reach Above Eleven. As the name suggests, this rooftop bar is above the action of the area and serves some mouthwatering cocktails and Peruvian Japanese food. With stunning views across the city, Above Eleven has been carefully designed with trees and even a maze. The view from the bathroom is even better!

4. The Nest

If you need a stop off on the way to your next venue, then duck into The Nest around the corner from Above Eleven. An open air lounge with comfortable sofas and if you are lucky you may even be able relax on a bed, this really is the place to ‘nest’. Tuck into some tasty tapas or line your stomach with some more substanial before continuing your evening.

5. L’Appart, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

After all the excitement of Sukhumvit soi 11, head to the Sofitel on Sukhumvit Road near Asoke BTS station. Undoubtedly one of the most underrated underrated rooftop bars in the area, if not Bangkok. Choose a seat outside or grab a table inside in the French restaurant designed to feel like a luxury Parisian apartment. L’Appart is the sophisticated place for a tipple or two.

6. Long Table

Long Table is on the 25th floor of 48 Column just off Asoke BTS. Having become a bit of an Bangkok institution, it is known for its jaw dropping sunsets thanks to its west facing outlook. Thai food is served in the comfy booths or if you are feeling hot there is even a pool to dip into. The Long Table can get busy so it is best to book ahead.

7. Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge Bangkok

Sat on top of the Marriot Hotel on Sukhumvit Road by Thong Lor BTS station is Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge. Spread over two floors with the upper having 360 degree panoramic views across the city, Octave is the place to head to if you want to feel on top of the world. The happy hour offers half price cocktails, and there are countless seating options available.

8. Zeppelin Bar

If you are still standing then Zeppelin Bar awaits. In an area of Bangkok that typically lacks rooftop bars, Zeppelin Bar is by Phra Khanong BTS station and occupies the two floors above Le Luk Condominium. This rooftop bar really comes alive at the weekend with live bands and DJs. Whether you want to enjoy a meal or sip on some cocktails, then pick either floor that suits your mood.
