Developers in Thailand are embracing a number of green features, including solar roofs and electric vehicle charging stations, as they look to keep up with changing consumer preferences. Smaller, boutique homebuilders had been ahead of the curve when it came to in-home sustainability, but several large firms are now getting in on the act.

For example, Property Perfect announced plans to install solar roofs on 30,000 units it has under construction while electric vehicle charging stations will be placed at a further 50,000 homes. The developer has been extremely active in the detached housing segment during the past four years and intends to launch 15 new projects in 2022

Elsewhere, Sansiri, Sena Development and Origin Property are among the other developers to announce solar roof installation plans, according to The Nation. Most of these will be placed at projects in suburban Bangkok.

Phuket developers lead the way

Homebuilders in Phuket have been utilizing solar roofs, sustainable materials and other green features for years. Riverhouse Phuket, for instance, has fitted each home with solar panels that are part of an integrated power system along with an in-home dehumidifier that keeps residences free of fungus and smells without needing to use air conditioning. This makes it the first off-grid villa development in Thailand.

However, it is Serene Condominium that has led the way when it comes to sustainable development in both Phuket and Thailand as a whole. The stylish project is equipped with rooftop solar panels and a water resource management system that ensures the most efficient use of on-site resources.

Serene Condominium has also banned non-recycled plastic while utilizing several recycled materials in construction of the common areas. All of this has been tied together with lush landscapes to create Phuket’s premier eco-friendly development.
