Thailand: 21st in the world

Thailand has been ranked as the world’s 21st best country this year by the U.S. News & World Report.

In a statement published by the Public Relations Department of the Royal Thai Government, Government Spokesperson Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said that according to the report, the top five countries worldwide are Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and Sweden, respectively.

In ASEAN Singapore led the region in 15th place while Malaysia came in 28th. They were followed by Vietnam which was ranked 32nd, the Philippines at 33rd and Indonesia at 42nd.

The Government spokesperson said Thailand was named the world’s best country for business start-ups and the sixth best for investment. Major General Sansern said the government will use this information to further promote national growth.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his gratitude to the Thai people for contributing to Thailand’s acceptance in the international community. He added that it is important for the nation to continue being active in moving towards prosperity and away from political conflict.
