Govt. urges caution

Thailand’s Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, M.L. Panadda Diskul, has urged home buyers to exercise caution when buying property.

The message came during a recent discussion about the previous government’s housing programs during a seminar held by the Office of the Consumer Protection Board.

The event was aimed at raising awareness for quality assurance among real estate agencies, while at the same time educating the general public on the basics of property inspection.

M.L. Panadda cautioned home buyers to be extra careful when purchasing property, while remaining skeptical about ads or deals that are extremely attractive. He also urged real estate operators to uphold honesty and refrain from taking advantage of their clients.

OCPB Secretary General Ampol Wonsiri revealed that a number of complaints have been made about several property-related issues including unfinished housing developments, the lack of transparency in housing management, high rates of decay and low quality construction.
