Chao Phraya River Is Changing Its Skyline with Eight Upcoming Developments

The Chao Phraya rivers skyline in Bangkok.Thailand-Property.comThe Chao Phraya, the most famous river in Thailand is the new hotspot in Bangkok for development this year. In fact, there are many developments planned for construction right along the famous river’s edge.

One project that is currently underway and expected to be completed by the end of the international calendar year, called Tha Maharaj will be a new river pavilion consisting of over 50 brick and mortar businesses, shops and restaurants as well as an antique market, all adjacent to three boat piers. For those driving, there will be 200 parking spaces.

Just down the river off Charoen Nakorn Road will be the new Icon Silom, which will become somewhat of a micro suburb consisting of two sky-scrapers for luxury condos and shopping complexes. The upcoming 3,500-seat auditorium will include a large-scale multimedia light show. Also on Charoen Nakorn Road, Asiatique 2 will be a continuation of the massively popular market on the west side of the river, opening up in 2016. One of the most exciting features in this new development will be a “snow town,” attracting Bangkokians and tourists alike looking for a day of shopping, dining and entertainment. Nearby a new 26-storey hotel and plaza, to be called the Avani Bangkok Riverside, will be completed in September of next year by the famous development company, the Minor Group.

 Heading north up the Chao Phraya, the already famous flower market will be turned into a beautiful river walk, with six low-rise buildings selling all of the market’s traditionally sold flowers, fruit and food. The waterfront won’t just be for locals looking to add flowery touches to a room though. Visitors to Bangkok will soon be able to stay in the Landmark Waterfront, a five start hotel and 27-floor condominium (that promises 110 or more metres per room), to be located where the Fish Marketing Org used to be.

 Another new residence will be the first non-hotel under the Peninsula brand. It’s a 5 billion THB high-rise development of serviced residences and leasehold condos that has already been in development for years, and may continue construction for another few years. Another project that still has a ways to go to develop will be the Menam Residences on Charoenkrung Soi 72, right on the water and walking distance to Asiatique.
