Bang Na: A big surprise

Bang Na emerged as the most-searched location for Bangkok property to rent by users of Thailand’s number one property website last week.

It knocked Sukhumvit, which had held the top position for five consecutive weeks, into third place, while On Nut maintained its promising run in the top five most-searched locations on Thailand-Property.com – ranking in second position for the third time in five weeks.

Krung Thonburi maintained its position as the fourth most-searched rental location in Bangkok during the week ending Monday, January 11, while Ladprao – after dropping out of the top five locations for most-searched property to rent in Bangkok – made it back into fifth position last week.

If anything, Thailand-Property.com’s weekly ranking survey of the data for the most-searched locations for rental properties, which it has been producing for the past five weeks, is starting to show the sector is particularly fluid.

One single completed project with a significant number of investors seeking tenants can have an impact on the results, although to see Bang Na and On Nut attracting the most interest last week was somewhat surprising.

Adam Sutcliffe, Managing Director of Thailand Property, said: “Central Bangkok destinations will always be popular, especially with expatriates, during the long-term but it will be very interesting to see whether the trend of users searching for cheaper properties to rent in places like Bang Na and On Nut is a one-off, or is the start of a more defined trend.

“Only time will tell.”

Thailand-Property.com is the number one English language property portal in Thailand, with the largest number of English language property listings, as well as being the most prolific producer of English language property news and information that matters to Thailand property buyers and investors.
