Thonglor top for rental prices

The district of Thonglor is currently the most expensive location to rent property in Bangkok according to a snapshot survey of the asking prices of new property rental listings recently acquired by AsiaRents.com, a Bangkok real estate agency that focuses entirely in the rental sector in the Thai capital.

One unit, a two-bedroom property measuring 75 sqm, is commanding an asking price of almost THB 1,000 per sqm per month – the most expensive of more than 70 new listings the agency acquired during the final two weeks of April.

Rental properties in both the Asoke and Phra Khanong areas were not far behind – both achieving asking prices in excess of THB 850 per sqm per month.

The agency noted that larger units across the city, as well as those located on the Thonburi side of the river as well as some towards Ari and Mo Chit where asking as little as half of the prices in Thonglor (pictured).

Jamie Nettleship, Managing Director of AsiaRents.com, said: “Thonglor has been a popular destination for expatriate renters for a number of years, and while we’re seeing asking prices prices creeping up here we are also seeing prices rising in nearby Phra Khanong too.

“This is line with the increasing sales prices we’ve witnessed in many parts of Bangkok, and the increasingly higher rental yields that are expected by landlords who have chosen to buy for investment.”

He added that AsiaRents.com, which has been noted for its branded Mini Cooper viewing vehicles, has its finger on the pulse of the rental market and, due to both its independence and more than 50-years of combined experience, is able to provide up-to-date data as well as impartial advice.
