Strong Local Demand Spurs Developments in Khao Yai

Property firm Scenical Co. announced plans to develop a mall and hotel at its Greenery Khao Yai complex in Nakhon Ratchasima province, reports The Nation.

A local developer, Scenical has focused on hotel, retail and residential projects in the vicinity of Khao Yai National Park in Pak Chong district.

Encouraged by strong demand in the market, the company will budget up to THB 2 billion to develop Greenery Park Mall, a community mall on 72 rai (11.5 hectares). The project, which will offer 9,612 square metres of retail space, is under construction and targeted to open in December.

Also, Scenical will invest THB 1.4 billion on a 250-room four-star hotel, which is slated for completion in 2015. Along with its two existing hotels, Botanica Khao Yai and Foresta, the developer will then operate a total of 500 guestrooms in the area.

Botanica and Foresta also feature residential units for sale; once those condos have been completed and delivered to customers, Scenical is considering the development of a new condominium project in the Khao Yai area next year.

At present, most of the tourists who visit Khao Yai National Park and its vicinity are Thais. With more facilities in place, the firm expects to draw more foreign visitors, boost its hotel occupancy rate from an average of 60 percent to 80 percent, and double its revenue target to THB 2 billion in 2015.
