Rapid Property Developments Continue Down the Silom BTS Line

The area of Thon Buri in Bangkok is growing in popularity for home seekers and condo buyers, especially the areas right around the BTS station of Krung Thonburi. Despite being considered an outskirt area of Bangkok, Thon Buri has an average take-up rate of 78%, reports The Bangkok Post. The Silom BTS line, which opened in 2009, now runs straight through the district is able to transport residents of Thon Buri to Siam station in under 25 minutes, making it a convenient place for those who are looking to either live away from the hustle and bustle of the city center or to buy a condo at a lower price than downtown areas.

Since its inception, stations down the Silom BTS line have continued to be a draw for property developers with nearly 15,000 units from over 30 condo projects launched within 500 metres of the sky train stations between Thon Buri and Bang Wa. Krung Thon Buri is the closest station to the river and is the most popular outskirt area along the line for developers. Since 2009, 93% of 2,500 units from eight projects sold in the area. The second most-rapidly developing area on the line is the surrounding Wutthakat station, the second to last stop on the line. This area has seen 3,800 units from seven projects go up since the BTS opened. Despite the distance from the city, the units have experienced a sales rate of 70%.
