Pattaya Boat Show helps Eastern Seaboard’s transformation

The Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show will be held from 23 to 26 November and with it will come the best in marine and leisure from around the world. The event is now in its fifth year and has become one of the most celebrated marine events in Southeast Asia.

Billed as ‘Thailand’s Biggest Outdoor Lifestyle Boat Show’, the 2017 Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show retains its premier position in the global marine events calendar kicking off the Asian boat show season. More than 150 businesses are expected to showcase their products and services with superyachts, marine products, luxury cars and real estate all on offer.

This year’s edition comes at a time when the Thai government is promoting Pattaya as a leading marine tourism destination as part of its attempt to revitalise the Eastern Seaboard. Infrastructure projects have already been approved for the region while efforts are also under way to improve tourism and business in the region.

“Pattaya is showing strong growth in visitor arrivals and receipts, and is central to the development of the country’s Eastern Economic Corridor. Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show has an important role to play in this, being the leading platform for marine businesses to promote their products and services to a domestic and international audience. Now in its sixth year, the consumer-focused show has earned a reputation as being a boat show for boat lovers, where people come to see and test the latest products in the industry, and has a track record of trade,” Dr. Tirachai Pipitsupaphol, managing director, Ocean Property, explained.

Pattaya Boat Show encouraged by regulation changes

The Thai Customs Department made some changes last year to stay durations that make Thailand a more attractive destination for yacht owners and operators. The result of this has been an uptick in the number of international pleasure boats and superyachts who wish to berth themselves in Pattaya and discover the Gulf of Thailand.

“Thailand’s East Coast has huge leisure potential. We are receiving more enquiries from international pleasure boats and superyachts who wish to berth themselves in Pattaya as well as more Thai people chartering boats for private vacations and more charter companies opening up in the Gulf region to cater to this market. This bodes well for the local marine industry and provides a solid foundation for further growth of the marine leisure sector in the Gulf of Thailand,” Scott Finsten, harbour master of Ocean Marina Yacht Club, stated.

This increase in numbers has had a trickle down effect to both the tourism and real estate sectors. More visitors coming to Thailand via yachts are looking for places to stay, with some these boat owners now considering buying a condominium in the Kingdom. This provides them with a place to stay when in Thailand, where they could be exploring or docked at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club for repairs, and then be rented out whilst they are away.

Dot Property, proud media partner of The Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show, will be organising an exclusive real estate showcase within the event. This space will have several top developers presenting a number of impressive projects.
