Halloween in Bangkok: what you need to know for a fun and spooky time

There’s not much to write home about when it comes to Halloween in Bangkok. Some places are hosting events these days, but overall there isn’t anything special going on. Some of these activities are aimed at children who can enjoy free candy while others cater to adults. All of them feature a chance to wear a costume and have a lot of fun day or night out.

Want to know more about Halloween in Bangkok? From decorations to celebrations, here are three essentials you need for a fun and spooky time this year.

How to celebrate Halloween in Bangkok

1) Fun for the family

There are several events taking place during October designed entirely for the young ones. Halloween in Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without some trick-or-treating and it will be possible at the Haunted Halloween Party 2018 coming to K Village. There will also be a costume contest, face painting, a Halloween photo booth and a bunch of other fun activities. The festivities take place on 31 October starting from 4 pm. In the days after Halloween, Bambi, an organization for mothers and babies, hosts its annual Spooktacular Party inside the Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20. Kids can trick-or-treat and enjoy the holiday. Click here for more information.

2) Scary time for grownups

While Halloween is fun for the kids, grownups prefer something a little more, well, grown up. Candy is replaced by horror movies and other scary happenings. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot scheduled apart from the usual themed nights at most bars and nightclubs in Bangkok.

It’s not entirely a lost cause, however. Oh My Ghost Bangkok 2018 is slated for 27 October and promises to be one of the biggest Halloween music festivals in the region. More information can be found here.

3) Get your Halloween Decorations

It’s not always easy finding Halloween decorations in Bangkok. That’s because many people don’t really like decorating their home with spider webs and the like. However, if you want to bring some spooky appeal to your home or host a party, it is possible to find the right decorations.

Pinata Party Store has by far and away the largest selection of Halloween decor in the Thai capital. Many Villa Market outlets, found in many malls around Thailand, have a small display containing various Halloween items as well. The selection isn’t large, but you’ll usually find something interesting.
