Bang Na top again

Bang Na has regained top spot as the most-searched location for property to rent in Bangkok for the seven days ending February 23 by users of Thailand’s number one property website.

In claiming top spot it knocked what has become its biggest rival – On Nut – into third place, the first time this year that On Nut has not been in either of the top two most-searched property rental locations on www.thailand-property.com.

Taking second place last week was Sukhumvit – a popular starting point for expatriates looking for property to rent in Bangkok. That search location has appeared in the top five positions every week since the website – part of Asia’s fast-growing Dot Property Group – started publishing Bangkok property rental data at the start of December 2015.

Claiming fourth place last week was Ladprao – the first time this district had appeared in the top five most-searched rental locations since the end of January. Recording fifth place was Sathorn – again another area that has occasionally crept into the top five but has not been seen since the last week of 2015.

Outside of the top five, locations towards the end of the existing Bangkok mass-transit lines were attracting strong interest, with locations such as Bang Wa and Krung Thonburi creeping up the list.

Adam Sutcliffe, Managing Director of Dot Property Group (Thailand), said: “Sukhumvit’s jump into second spot after the dominance of both Bang Na and On Nut so far this year could be seen as a surprise.

“That said, the area will be a popular choice for any of the short-term property benefits that Bangkok will experience as a result of the start of AEC at the end of last year.

“The rise of locations that would not be considered traditional expatriate areas seems to indicate that people searching for property to rent in Bangkok are prepared to look further from the centre of the city, where their money will go further.”

Sutcliffe again stressed that Bangkok real estate agents, clients and property developers can make fantastic use of this free, valuable and up-to-date information – and direct their marketing efforts towards the locations where there is current real demand for rental properties.
